A classic light model from the French company Opinel, which has been producing knives for over 100 years. The thin, convex ground blade is made of XC90 carbon steel which is easy to sharpen, gets razor sharp fast and holds an edge moderately well. Since carbon steel requires a little more care, it should be thoroughly dried after use and oiled occasionally - following this simple tip will protect our blade from rust.
The beech handle is well profiled and provides a firm, comfortable grip. The blade can be locked by a rotating ring, patented in 1955 under the name Virobloc.
Opinel knives are an excellent choice for people who value tradition, functionality, and simplicity. It's a great idea for an inexpensive, original gift.
